The "Forget Me Not" safety alert system utilizes laser break beam technology coupled to a key fob. When the child is placed in the car seat, the weight of the child "breaks" the laser circuit. If the parent/caregiver moves several feet away from the car when the internal laser circuit is still "broken" , a loud audible sound will emanate from the key fob in addition to it vibrating.​

"Forget Me Not" is automatically disabled if no weight is present atop it. With no weight on it, the laser forms a complete circuit; thereby, not setting off the key fob.
